1.1 Yet another Bangla typing system?

Although many Bangla typing systems have been developed in the last ten years, only a few have been popular with the end users. BanglaWord’s typing system is one of them. ShadinKeyboard is an improved version of the BanglaWord’s typing system. It is so simple to learn and use that once you’ve used it you will wonder how you have managed without it. Our challenge is that after 5 minutes of training you will be able to type almost anything in Bangla. Assuming you know how to write Bangla of course.

1.2 Why is Shadin typing system very popular?

There are several reasons for its popularity. From the feedbacks we received it seems that not only is it very easy to learn and use but also very enjoyable. Try for yourself, its free..

1.3 Is it free or not?

ShadinKeyboard and ShadinWord have very long trial periods. When the trail period expires you are free to download it again for another long trial period as long as you are using it at a personal capacity (i.e. for home use only). Businesses and other institutions must buy a full license after the initial trial period expires. Remember we need your support to make it viable for us of continue improving the existing product and developing new ones in the future.

2.1 How are Bangla letters mapped onto the English Keyboard?

The Bangla letters are mapped to their phonetic (sounds like) English equivalent. For example the letters , and are to mapped to the key R, <shift > R and <ctrl> R. The idea is that all ra sounding letters are grouped to the R key.

2.2 How do I type juktho characters?

We have set the CAPSLOCK key as the dedicated juktho key. Simply pressing the CAPSLOK key will combine two Bangla letters in their juktho okkor. For example to type ক্ল, press the keys K L <CAPSLOCK>, which will result in the juktho okkor ক্ল. Pressing the CAPSLOCK key again will un-juktho a juktho okkor., i.e ক্ল will become কল.

2.3 How do I type Bangla vowel matras i.e akar ekars, etc?

Bangla vowel matras i.e akar ekars, etc are automatically typed for you if the corresponding vowel is typed after a consonant. The vowels are mapped to the keyboard as follows:
- A
- <shift> A
- I
- <shift> I
- U
- <shift> U
-<Ctrl>R
- E
- <shift> E
- O
- <shift>O

For example to spell কি press K I, you will notice when I is pressed instead of the rosho-eekar ি appears. Now to type কই press K I <CAPSLOCK>, pressing the <CAPSLOCK> key change the ি into ই.
